At St. Andrews International School, Sukhumvit 107, our focus is on the whole child and this begins as soon as they start nursery. Our dedicated centre provides indoor and outdoor learning spaces where your child will find a home away from home with plenty of room to grow. This environment fosters a safe, happy and exciting experience for your child, building a positive attitude to learning from their very first day of school.

Students start at age 2 in the Nursery and will stay within the dedicated Early Years Centre until age 5 when they move on to Year 1 in the main school. Whilst we follow the English National Curriculum, we introduce the IB PYP enquiry approach, encouraging students to be global thinkers, proactive learners and have a global perspective on everything they do. We have a dedicated team who ensure basic skills are learnt from day one. We place a high emphasis on structured learning - literacy and numeracy, followed by creative and interactive play.

Our experienced Early Years teachers are continually assessing the children’s progress through observation and conversation. Dialogue with parents is an essential part of this assessment process. Teachers build up a portfolio of children’s progress through photographs and recorded observations. These form the basis for discussions with parents, who are also invited to contribute to these portfolios.

Our teaching in Early Years reflects the principles that:

Teaching and learning for the children in our Early Years Centre has a high emphasis on structured, creative play and interactive learning. The curriculum is themed to enable the areas of learning to be inter-related.

Teachers are flexible to the needs of the children; for our Nursery children this means making individual links to their home environment.

The children work towards achieving the Early Learning Goals in three prime areas of learning, incorporating four specific areas.
